Camo-Cafe
-Walls stamped with Leaves-

Oct. 2008
Nishi-sugamo Arts Factory
Tokyo Japan
constructor: Shinkyo Kensetsu
Stamp works: office mikiko
Painting advice: Shuhei Nakamura

This project was commissioned by two non-profit organizations, which organizes Arts and Theater events in a closed school building.
Various types of people, famous actors, young artists, and adults and children from the neighbors visit this site. Clients wished to have a cafe space where they can communicate with each other, to exchange ideas and inspirations.
As the budget was very low, we decided not to purchase new material except for items that were functionally required. Instead we used hands of people and leaves of existing trees there.
We had workshops and made leaf-stamps on the wall. For many times and by many people, thousands of wishes have been marked into the space.
People love this place and call it “Room of Happiness”. Many of the neighbors drop by and relax here, including those who had never entered the building in the past.
